Antelope Canyon, located near Page, Arizona, is home to one of nature's most wondrous creations: the slot canyon. Carved from red sandstone over millennia by seasonal flooding, its sculpted walls and famous light beams draw visitors from around the world.
To the Navajo, Upper Antelope Canyon is known as the place where water runs through. A permit and a tour guide are required to visit, and your tour group will assist with purchasing the permit.
Visiting Lower Antelope Canyon
Lower Antelope Canyon is a global destination for photographers and adventure seekers. Guided tours begin with a short 10-minute walk from the check-in booth to the canyon entrance, and athletic shoes with grip tread are recommended.
Admission is $8 per person per day through the Lake Powell Navajo Tribal Park. Note that flash flooding can happen at any time, so always heed warnings from local tour companies and the Navajo Parks and Recreation department.
